New England singer/songwriter Jonathan Sarty has performed regionally and throughout New England over the last decade. Perhaps most well known as the leader of his band the White Mountain Boys, Sarty has a wide range of material consisting mainly of classic American music from old time country and honky tonk to soul, gospel, rock, and rhythm and blues.
Sarty’s original music stands alone. Lyrically not one word is without purpose. Though strongly influenced by his predecessors in American music history Sarty’s songs have a flavor all their own with intelligent arrangements driven by solid guitar work.
Following the release of his debut all original CD in 2006, Sarty led his group to greater success and made appearances throughout Nashville at several well known Nashville Venues. Sarty was invited to participate in Nashville’s Country Music Fanfare as a guest at the Fan Fare Exhibition Hall.

Currently, though still performing under the well established White Mountain Boys name, Sarty has also been performing a large number of duo concerts with accomplished steel guitar player Chuck O’Connor.
Chuck O’Connor was born in Arlington, Massachusetts and has traveled extensively, working with stringed instruments across the country, based from 1982 through 2002 in Wimberley, Texas. While working as a sideman for many of Austin’s most popular groups, Chuck was a founder of one of the most innovative homegrown acts ever developed out of the Austin music scene. With a musical history spanning decades from Folk to Jazz and most genres between, Chuck is primarily working with steel instruments these days. Squareneck Resophonic guitar is the current implement of choice having developed a unique style using eight string dobro and employing Elizabeth Cotton, Merle Travis, Chet Atkins style picking techniques. Hot on the dobro’s heels is the electric steel guitar and given his passion for diversity he is utilizing both dobro and steel in a broad range of genres from acoustically based Folk and Americana to Rock, Country, Pop and Jazz. A multi-instrumentalist, you may also hear from time to time the result of decades of playing electric and acoustic guitar, bass and pedal steel guitar. Together Jonathan and Chuck have found a chemistry which spans their wide range of material and compliments all the songs which they present in a flawless performance.
In whatever format you catch Jonathan be it solo, with Chuck, or with the full band, the stage presentation is excellent and it is clear Jonathan is moving in a great direction rapidly as he has found himself well received by audiences throughout the region and beyond. In addition to the many originals penned by Sarty his current repertoire consists of songs by artists such as Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, Elvis Presley, Hank Thompson, George Jones, Willie Nelson, Ray Price, Tim McGraw, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, and various other American artists.
Sarty is currently working on his next CD in collaboration with O’Connor and a variety of artist’s he has befriended throughout his career.
Don’t miss a chance to hear a fine performance presented by extremely talented artists in a streamlined and methodical style with all the class and professionalism that only true entertainers can offer, as Jonathan Sarty appears at a venue near you. |
